![]() There should be fewer variables (but still many of them) to consider.Īlso, my guess would be that the Mac environment is used by a majority of C1 users both by number of users and the numbers or images processed by the Mac user world, especially the professional Mac user world.įor example, there are a number of Apple-only products available as part of C1 that require development and support resources but seem unlikely to become available for Windows/Android. ![]() However, from a developer point of view, in theory the Mac environment is much more controlled than a Windows environment and therefore one has a better chance of diagnosing what is going on. It may also mean that the complete, end-to-end process is entirely unique to your workflow and configuration which could mean that it is extremely difficult to diagnose exactly what is happening by trying to reproduce the problem.Īs a Windows user, I understand your comments about possible differences in support levels between Windows and Mac and agree that such differences in priority, if they exist, are unacceptable. To me, that increases the opportunities for changes to occur somewhere in the overall process that might break the process in ways that cannot easily be covered by predicting what might go wrong and programming for it in an appropriate way. Partly my reasoning for that concerns the number of times the system will end up checking for updates from other data sources that it does not manage. Or if it was it would be relevant to the "final" output versions rather than the original files from which they are created. If the entire collection is continually subject to changes to the metadata from an external source constant cross-referencing may be necessary but in most use cases I can think of that would not be the case. Personally, I have a conceptual problem with using synchronisation for catalogs (or sessions) where the catalog is still active long after the work to add metadata and edit instructions to most of the images has been completed. Have you considered using sessions to prepare new images and then add them to the catalog? (I am assuming that you are looking at "All images" not a filtered collection based on metadata that might be missing because of synchronisation concerns.ĭo you work with just one catalog or do you use a catalog for each shoot? ![]() If the change of a V22 catalog to update to V23 somehow results in some images from the catalog not being displayed in V23, that might suggest that the source of the problem is something different to just the synchronisation activity. If, as an experiment, you use V23 with synchronisation turned off, does the problem go away or does it still exist? What annoys me the most is the statement of the support that they first take care of the problem fix for the macOS platform, are Windows users who pay the same price as Mac users, second class users? I bought the software and can't use it because the manufacturer doesn't care. In the meantime, four minor releases have come out in which the problem was not addressed, but new features were. I have been asked twice for log files and most recently for a screen recording to show the problem. The answers I got from support about the problem were something like I should turn off graphics acceleration or something like that. ![]() I suspect that there are still bugs in the catalog engine and that there is a general problem with a dead lock when syncronization of the sidecar files is enabled. Further, version 23 had not always shown me all the images in the catalog, this is totally creepy. Yes I know that you can create keywords with CP, but the usability is horrible compared to Photo Mechanic, I would need ten times more time and time is the critical factor in my case.Īt the moment CP 23 is uninstalled and it was installed in parallel with 22, I am waiting for a fix since November 12. Without synchronization of the sidecar files my workflow does not work anymore. Exporting the photos and forwarding them to the stock agency Writing the bilingual keywords with Photo Mechanik I write keywords in two different languages. I need the synchronization because I edit the metadata and keywords with Photo Mechanik.
